About the book
Every marriage has its secrets...
When Sadie moves with her husband Will and their two children to a tiny coastal town, it's a fresh start. Will swears the affair he was having back in the city is over and Sadie believes him. But their new beginning is tainted when a local woman is murdered leaving Sadie convinced there's a killer in their midst.

Hot-headed, beautiful Camille is obsessively in love with Will. She's even prepared to follow him thousands of miles to stake out his new home in secret - and in doing so, becomes the only witness to a brutal crime.

But who is Camille really, and what is her connection to the dead woman? And as the murder investigation deepens, whose secret will be revealed as the darkest of them all?

Review
When it comes to writing reviews for a Kubica book I always find myself wondering how far I can go, because there is always the kind of twist, which if revealed, would spoil the read completely. So, with that in mind I will try to capture the gist of this riveting read.

Sadie is torn between starting a new life with her family, a life that doesn't involve the temptation of her husband Will straying again or her eldest son going off the rails, and having to live in an isolated area with Will's niece. Imogen recently lost her mother and is angered by the fact she, her house and their belongings have become the property of her uncle and his wife.

Having to deal with a rebellious teen, who appears to be in self destruction mode and perhaps even volatile, is just one more thing to worry about on top of a philandering husband and disturbed son. Then to top it all off a woman in their street is murdered and Sadie starts to suspect the people closest to her aren't being very generous with the truth.

Little does she know that Camille, the bit on the side, has followed them all the way out there and is determined to keep a tight grip on Will. She takes what she wants when she wants it, regardless of the damage she leaves in her wake.

It's a psychological and domestic thriller - a tale of crumbling walls and fragile minds. Once again Kubica manages to deceive, divert and whilst doing so captivate the reader. Nothing is as it appears to be in this elusive story of doubt, betrayal, trust and obsession.

As much as would like to go into the finer details of the story, which the author refers to in the author's note - it would give the game away. Enjoy this tale of deception, delusion and misconceptions for the great read it is.
