About the book
Sometimes, a date from hell is just what you need...
When Erin thoughtlessly lays a curse on Mark, her cheating ex-husband, she doesn’t expect a well-dressed Great Earl of Hell to show up in her kitchen to fulfill the curse (and make damn good coffee while he’s at it).

Andromalius specializes in wickedness and revenge. He’s ready, willing, and able to rain down hell on Erin’s ex—but when Mark announces a hasty new marriage, Erin needs more than just revenge. She needs a date to the wedding.

Review
Erin is a woman scorned. A woman filled with pain, hatred and disappointment. Her life has been turned upside down and she has been betrayed. Her ex-husband Mark isn't satisfied with getting what he wanted, he also wants her to fade away so nobody remembers his transgressions.

She accidentally conjures up a demon who is willing to take care of her problem or perhaps just annoy him a little, but the demon isn't exactly what it says on the box.

I'm not sure Andy the demon fits the usual stereotype everyone is used to. He is kind, considerate, likes to take care of people and makes a darn good cup of coffee. Erin finds herself so distracted by the demon that suddenly the distressing events that fill her head are no longer as important as they were before he turned up.

It's an entertaining paranormal romance. Moseman combines the paranormal with the humour of a  romcom.

Although the story never gets too serious there is actually a nice little message hidden inside. There is always a way forward even when things look dire and feel incredibly painful, and giving away energy to things you cannot change is a waste of time.

It's lighthearted escapism and a fun read.

The second book in the series, A Witch's Work Is Never Done is due to be released in October of this year.

#BlogTour The Colour of Death by Elizabeth Davies

Today it's my turn on the BlogTour The Color of Death by Elizabeth Davies.
About the Author
Elizabeth Davies is a paranormal author, whose books have a romantic flavour with more than a hint of suspense. And death. There's usually death...

About the book
“Mad, bad and dangerous to know.”
Olivia Parr doesn’t believe her ability to see auras is a gift. It hasn’t exactly done her any favours. Quite the opposite, in fact. Having become something of a loner, she tries to avoid people and the glow surrounding them, preferring to view life through the lens of a camera, where she can’t see those telltale colours.
But when a rare visit to a theatre ends in death and bloodshed, Olivia’s life is about to become considerably more complicated.

During the mayhem, one man stands out, and not just because he seems oblivious to the terrible carnage. The reason? He has no aura.

But everyone has an aura, right? Everyone. Except for the dead.

Not only is she fascinated and intrigued by this strange, compelling man, in the aftermath of the tragedy she gains a protector; a man whose aura is deep, dark red – the colour of blood.
Review
This is the first book in the Colour series. Colour refers to the ability of the main character to see auras.

Davies takes this paranormal story back to old school vampire tales. In a world where being one isn't the norm and does come as a surprise to the characters.

It starts off with quite a shocking scenario. A tragedy puts all three major players in the same place, which reveals them all to each other. It is the beginning of a cat and mouse game to save Crow's sister and keep Olivia from the clutches of an experienced predator.

One could argue that Olivia has supernatural talents of her own. The vampire certainly thinks so, especially because his lack of any aura at all singles him out. He becomes interested in Olivia's particular talent, and indeed in Olivia too.

At the same time Olivia is pulled in the opposite direction by Crow. He doesn't have the same seductive powers as the fanged gentleman, but he does have some kind of pull. Perhaps it is the contradiction between the two men? One is the forbidden fruit and the other is the dark dangerous type.

It's a paranormal urban fantasy - a sizzling and steamy supernatural tale. It's very much in the flair of old legends and tropes of the supernatural. Where glamour is still used to enable romantic encounters and allow long toothed predators to nibble on their prey.

About the book
Fated Mates meets Clash of the Titans!

Melanie Jacoby is the human vessel for the Muse of Tragic Poetry, but she isn't prepared for the tragedy of finding her roommate dead at the bottom of the stairs.

Nate Malone is the detective assigned to the case, but as the evidence points to an accidental fall, the visions begin. He sees a killer in a gold Kronos mask.

Mel is the next target, but Nate's determination to protect her is almost as strong as his desire for her.

And tragedy isn't part of his plan.

The Prophecy - "Every generation the nine daughters of Zeus are reborn, and with their rebirth are also nine Guardians. They will be marked by the gods, and given gifts to protect his treasure. Their abilities will only be unlocked when they find their muse."

Review
This is the first book in the Muse Chronicles, which is a paranormal romance series with elements of Greek mythology. The nine muses have been given human vessels and live among the mere mortals. Each of them also has a guardian to protect and keep them from harm.

They are unaware of who their guardians are initially, so each book tells the story of each muse and guardian. Kessler steps the stories up a notch by adding a vicious and violent antagonist to the mix. It takes the story from romance, an instinctive connection to a more action driven read.

Whilst guardian and muse are connecting there are dark forces at work in the background. A group of fanatics determined to stop each muse in their tracks. Even if it means killing them off one by one.

It's paranormal romance with plenty of magic and action to boot. Kessler gives readers beautiful romantic relationships with sizzling moments of passion. The series will probably appeal to readers who like their romance with a little more spice and adventure.

I would have liked to have seen Kessler develop the whole mythology aspect more, mainly because the rebirth is such a brilliant idea with plenty of potential. Saying that, she gives readers exactly what they want from a paranormal romance.

#BlogTour Solstice Sizzle by Lilliana Rose

Today it's my turn on the BlogTour Solstice Sizzle by Lilliana Rose. It's paranormal romance with plenty of sizzle, romps and eroticism.
About the Author
Lilliana is an Amazon Bestselling author, who writes romance in the subgenres of contemporary, paranormal, steampunk, and rural. She enjoys helping characters overcome problems, or issues, and the misunderstandings that often plague relationships, to help them fall in love. Whether it city heels being replaced with country work boots, or some magic beyond this world, or cogs and gears and corsets, each story shows how love can prevail.

About the book
Johan Rogers is a sharpshooting family lawyer who is close to burn out. This is affecting his ability with the Magiks and his once reliable skill as a medium. On a whim, he’s come south to Edi’s shop, Crystal Sands, for a break over the summer solstice. He’s looking for fun, nothing serious, and definitely no commitment.

That’s how things start with the stunning Nova. But then a side of him he’s repressed to be a lawyer begins to emerge. Can he get a handle on his emotions, or will Nova help him to realize his full potential with the Magiks?

Nova McGinnis is struggling to find her unique skill with the Magiks. She’s been repressed too long, and despite Edi’s help, her ability is erratic at best. It’s been nearly a month of trying and she’s made minimal progress. Frustrated, she sees Johan as the perfect distraction.

It was meant to be just a summer love affair, but things are developing into something more lasting. Will a hot love affair prevent Nova from discovering her Magik ability, or help her?

Review
This is the second book in the Pagan Pleasures series. The first book, Beltane Bliss, features the story of Edi, who is also one of the characters in this one. In fact she plays a hand at helping two people open themselves up to their desires and inner abilities.

Nova is trying to access the skills she has repressed for many years. She has no idea how to access her magik, and her only memories are the ones of her mother doing everything she could to ensure Nova never used those skills.

Johan on the other hand is a workaholic who finds his talent or skills are diminishing as the years pass. He is trying desperately to reconnect to his innate abilities. When he meets Nova everything else becomes secondary, because what could be better than a holiday fling?

The first in the series was more of a paranormal romance, whereas I would put this one in that category and erotic romance too. Some of the sex scenes are explicit. A lot of male chickens and cats colluding to have spontaneous rumpy pumpy, if ya know what I mean.

There is a difference between the two reads, the focus was on the romantic connection in Beltane and this time it was about the physical connection and lust. Both very different ways to approach the genre and topic, and yet at the same time equally valid ones. I do think readers looking for the first approach may find the second one less appealing - if it's the less graphic and more romantic read they are looking for. Perhaps even vice versa. Something to keep in mind in regards to consistency and retaining readership.

Saying that, the author clearly has a nose for creating a lot out of little. Think minimal cast, structure and world-building, and yet still being able to create a short pleasurable read. Not something everyone can do.

It's paranormal romance with plenty of sizzle, romps and eroticism.

#BlogTour Beltane Bliss by Lilliana Rose

Today it's also my turn on the BlogTour Beltane Bliss by Lilliana Rose. It's paranormal romance with plenty of heat and heart

Edi Court is training to be a modern-day white witch, her unique ability is healing. Emotionally wounded from her ex, Anto, she has run away from the covenant with a need to heal herself. Following her psychic ability, she finds herself south, along the coast from Melbourne Australia, where she decides to set up her own healing shop, Crystal Sands.

Voltaire is a down to earth guy, a plumber by trade, he believes only what he sees in the physical world. The loss of his mom and sister to breast cancer and his ex, who stole his money and left him with a debt to work off, has caused him to close his heart.

Can Edi stop herself from rescuing another man and landing in deep water? Or with the Beltane energies thick in the air, can this be the start of a new relationship between two wounded souls?

Volt must become a believer in the Magiks and allow his heart to heal. And Edi must learn to trust herself again.

Will a non-believer and a believer find love over Beltane?

Review
Edi hasn't exactly finished her training to be a white witch. The need to heal herself was more important than completing her training. Her heart is still in pieces after her relationship with her ex. She stumbles upon the perfect location to take a moment for herself and in doing so meets someone who awakens quite a few emotions in her.

Not just the I like you kind either. More like the I want to eat you like a buttery croissant or an ice cream covered in chocolate sauce kind of way. Every time Volt is around her she feels like taking a bite. It seems to be a mutual affliction.

I enjoyed the way the author approached the aspect of healing. The combination of holistic healing verging into the area of white witchery and the use of both to heal a broken heart and to soothe a grief-stricken person. It speaks to the fact that not everything works for every person. There is no exact science for healing someone to overcome the death of loved ones

Rose clearly knows what kind of ingredients you need to write a paranormal urban fantasy romance. A little bit of magic, a pinch of witchery, a smidgen of romance and an undeniable physical attraction. The basics are all there, as is the plot, however it does need fine-tuning. It needs a good copy editor. Just for slight glitches in flow and grammar. I think this author has the capability to create smoldering reads whilst honing her craft.

It's paranormal romance with plenty of heat and heart. I would love to know more about Edi's pre-story, her training and the world she is running away from.
