About the book
Otty has just landed her dream job. She's about to join the writing team of one of the most respected showrunners in TV. And then the night before her first day, she's evicted from her flat.

Joe has been working with Russell for years. He's the best writer on his team, but lately something has been off. He's trying to get his mojo back, but when his flatmate moves out without warning he has other things to worry about.

Otty moving into Joe's house seems like the most obvious solution to both their problems, but neither is prepared for what happens next. Paired together in the writing room, their obvious chemistry sparks from the page and they are the writing duo to beat. But their relationship off the page is an entirely different story, and neither of them can figure out why.

And suddenly the question isn't, will they, or won't they? It's why won't they?

Review
Otty is finally taking a step into the world of her dreams - writing. Away from a secure job and her safe place. On top of that her small world of independence is being torn right from under her, which isn't a great way to start a new job.

Joe is missing his inspiration, which can mean the difference between having a job and being out of one. His saving grace is being a favourite of his boss, but he is well aware that the new writers might have just the right kind of ideas and style to threaten his position.

The two of them seem like an unlikely couple to strike up any kind of relationship, whether it be professional, friendly or something that explains the sparks between them. Fate intervenes and their very own story begins.

I can imagine that some readers may think that the end is a bit of a slow burner or lacks the emotional bonfire of a romcom or romance, but in my opinion it's actually a clever way to end their story. Their love for their common interest and the creativity comes together to create the ending they would write for someone else and absolutely wish for themselves.

Dickinson always gives readers an interesting kind of read. Imagine picking the thing that makes you feel most comfortable and emerging yourself in it. It's never too much, never not enough and never too risque - it just is, and sometimes that is enough. The kind of story that doesn't aspire to be anything other than something you really want to read to the very end.

About the book
Their love story started with goodbye...
'We'll meet again at St Pancras station, a year from today. If we're meant to be together, we'll both be there. If we're not, it was never meant to be...

Phoebe and Sam meet by chance at St Pancras station. Heading in opposite directions, both seeking their own adventures, meeting the love of their lives wasn't part of the plan. So they make a promise: to meet again in the same place in twelve months' time if they still want to be together.

But is life ever as simple as that?
This is a story of what-ifs and maybes - and how one decision can change your life forever...

Review
The story is written very much in the vein of An Affair to Remember and Brief Encounter. The author takes inspiration from the romantic notion of soulmates and fate. That sometimes when two people meet it was destined to happen, and that it may be the right people at the right time or the right people at the wrong time.

This very much describes what happens when Phoebe and Sam meet. Neither of them are supposed to be there at that point in time, then again the real question would be whether they were always meant to meet. Perhaps their lives were supposed to intersect at exactly this moment.

They instantly know they have an unfathomably close bond and attraction, and yet are unable to change the paths they are on, which means heading in completely opposite directions. They leave each other with the promise that they will return one year from now and carry on where they left off and in the interim they are allowed minimal contact via certain methods of communication.

What Dickinson plays to, as an author to their audience, is the feeling that there is someone out there for each one of us - we just have to find them. The inexplicable joy of the first flutterings of love and attraction. When breathlessness isn't caused by a fast round in the gym, but by the physical reaction we experience when our base mating instincts take over.

It's a contemporary read, women's fiction and in a way the kind of love story everyone wants to experience.
