About the book

As the sun rises on a hot summer’s day, four lives are about to be changed forever... Brand new from the bestselling author of What If?, What Now? and One Day In Summer. Today, Maisie McTeer decides to track down the ex who jilted her at the altar. Today, she’ll find out that revisiting the past can also rewrite her future.

After losing her husband, Harriet Bassett can no longer bear her lonely life. Today, a familiar face in a crowd will spark a quest to discover if there’s something and someone worth living for.

Scott and Kelly Bassett’s daughter is leaving home. Today, Scott plans to tell Kelly that he’s ending their marriage to pursue his rock and roll dreams. However, Kelly, has a bombshell of her own. How will Scott react to the news that a new arrival is on the way to fill their empty nest? Between sunrise and sunset, there’s love, heartbreak, laughter and tears, but who will find happiness at the end of the day?

Review

Maisie finds herself in a situation that forces her to face the past and ultimately to find closure when it comes to her past. Call it kismet, when she returns to the scene of her greatest heartache. She needs to face the bad to be able to open her eyes to the good.

Harriet is someone who has faded into the background since the death of her husband. Nobody realises how lonely she is and perhaps even she doesn't realise how much she would like a taste of life again. And Scott and Kelly are the perfect example of what happens when a couple lives next to each instead of with each other. Together they all make this the perfect conga line of mistakes -linked together through a common denominator.

The story taking place in the time constraints of one day is an interesting way to go about it, I think it would make a great screen experience given the right screenplay adaptation. The stories of the characters connect with ach other to create a honeycomb version of a plot.

Low likes to deliver stories with a lot of heart and the kind of tales that people can relate to. Families with secrets, characters who are just like you, me or your loved ones.

About the book

The follow-up sequel to the bestselling 'What If?' from Shari Low.

Twenty years ago, Carly Cooper went on an epic quest to track down all the men she’d ever loved and lost in the hope that one of them was her Mr Right.

Now, two decades and two teenage sons later, she thinks she might have got it all wrong. As the years have passed, lots of things have changed, leaving Carly asking ‘What Now?’

With a divorce and an empty nest on the horizon, Carly sets off once more to Los Angeles with her band of trusty girlfriends, to find the carefree, wild and adventurous Carly Cooper that she used to be.

On this latest quest, Carly discovers a few home truths and has to decide If her marriage is worth saving or is there a new happy-ever-after out there, just waiting for her…

Review

Carly has fallen into a bit of a slump after ending her marriage. All the plans she had to grab life by the horns and do all the things she had to put on a back-burner - she has done none of them. Her friends decide it is time for an intervention. A subtle, well okay not so subtle attempt to jump start their friend back into the joys of life.

In the perfect follow-up to What If, this is the story of what happens after Carly has found her happily ever after only to find that sometimes it doesn't last forever. Sometimes Mr Right is only Mr Right for a certain period of time or the fading glow of initial love starts to fade away.

Although this is a romcom it's also a snarky and honest look at relationships, marriage and indeed the glossy masquerade of love and how we experience it. Taken in Kodak moments the reality of life is something more like the experiences Carly has, as opposed to the alleged sanctity of a relationship born from intense passion, shy blushes and optimistic visions of the future.

The author combines both aforementioned elements to create an amusing, yet often quite sad and introspective read, about life after the so-called perfect relationship has become routine and disappointing. What happens when our expectations aren't met, which some of us are happy to ignore, others however would rather live life to the fullest whilst they can. This is the perfect example of someone determined to do that.
